H2 Mobility
Hydrogen Micromobility as an Alternative to Batteries.
Hydrogen energy is increasingly emerging as a solution for eco-friendly urban transportation. H2 Mobility Technologies s.r.o. focuses on the development and implementation of hydrogen propulsion systems for e-bikes and minibuses, expanding urban mobility options alongside traditional battery-powered solutions.
Hydrogen as a Complement to Batteries
The use of hydrogen propulsion offers several advantages over batteries—especially quick refueling, lower weight, and longer range. Hydrogen fuel cells can be the solution where battery technologies reach their limits, such as in vehicles with high range requirements or in environments with limited charging infrastructure.
Quick refueling in just a few minutes
Lower weight compared to battery storage systems
Possibility of longer range without lengthy charging
Lower environmental impact in production and disposal compared to batteries
H2 Bike® – the First Czech Hydrogen Bike
One of the first projects by H2 Mobility is the H2 Bike®, which was introduced on February 14, 2023, in Ostrava. This hydrogen-powered e-bike was developed in collaboration with H2 Medical Technologies and is part of the broader H2 City® concept, which connects hydrogen technologies with urban environments.
H2 Bike offers:
- 250 W motor power
- Range of up to 150 km on a single hydrogen tank
- Hydraulic brakes and a lightweight hydrogen bottle
The launch event was also attended by Professor Shigeo Ohta, a leading expert in biomedical hydrogen research, who supported the idea of developing hydrogen technologies not only in transport but also in healthcare.
Further Development and Potential Use
H2 Bike represents the first step in validating the potential of hydrogen propulsion in urban micromobility. The company is now exploring options for improving performance parameters, increasing range, and optimizing production.
At the same time, the deployment of hydrogen bikes in regular operation is being addressed—from refueling station infrastructure to the economic aspects of operation. Inspiration comes from hydrogen bikes in Germany, the Netherlands, and France, where they are gradually being tested in real-world conditions.
The Future of Hydrogen Micromobility
H2 Mobility Technologies focuses on the long-term potential of hydrogen use in urban transportation. Hydrogen-powered bikes and minibuses could complement existing eco-friendly transport options in the future—especially where fast refueling, higher performance, or lower weight compared to battery alternatives is needed.
Currently, testing and the search for optimal solutions are underway to enable broader use of this technology. Hydrogen micromobility is thus becoming one of the viable options for the development of sustainable urban transport.
